Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows 2003, Windows NT and Windows XP include built-in performance data publishing capabilities. These operating systems collect and publish an extensive set of performance counters. Each operating system has built-in tools for ad-hoc performance monitoring and analysis, which are very useful on standalone systems. However, those tools are not designed for enterprise-wide monitoring. Regularly collecting performance data allows you to baseline systems, perform capacity planning, see bottlenecks and immediately recognize problems. ELM includes a built-in feature for collecting performance data from Windows Workstations and Server with or without installing an Agent. Because the collected performance data is stored in a database, ELM can analyze and chart the data through its built-in Reports feature, or by using your ODBC query tools. This is a powerful yet easy way to proactively manage system resources. ELM Performance Manager 4.0 monitors the performance of each Windows system with unequaled ease and simplicity. EPM monitors resource trends and thresholds from hundreds of servers and workstations, launches alerts, and generates reports keeping IT Managers informed of costly bottlenecks before productivity is threatened. Using EPM, System Administrators can keep their systems operating at peak performance.
