- Supports all versions of Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Exchange Server
- Easy to Install
- No application modification required
- Does not require implementation of Exchange Server Enterprise Edition
- Does not require implementation of Enterprise or Data Center versions of Windows server OS
- Non-intrusive, non-coding approach eliminates the potential for destabilizing Exchange caused by changes in configuration settings
Easy to Use and Deploy
- Web-enabled JAVA-based graphical interface simplifies cluster configuration, administration and monitoring
- Graphical interface reduces learning curve and eliminates the need to learn scripting languages and command line instructions
- Can be accessed from either the system console or any JAVA-enabled web browser, thereby allowing remote administration
Flexible Data Replication
- Real-time or periodic "disk-to-disk" replication enables faster and more efficient recovery than relying upon tape backups
- Data can be replicated synchronously or asynchronously
Exchange Server Monitoring and Recovery
-
Provides health monitoring and failover of these key Exchange components:
- World Wide Web Publishing Service
- SMTP Service
- Message Transfer Agent (MTA)
- System Attendant
- Information Store

Product Capabilities
Data Replication
The data replication capabilities within LifeKeeper for Exchange are industry-proven and ensure that data is always available.
In Figure 1, data from a local disk located on an active server is replicated to a local disk located on a backup server.

- The recovery process from a local system failure is virtually immediate because data is available on a hot disk
- Data replication can be used to create a range of automated backup procedures that eliminate the need to disrupt users' work activities, or to schedule midnight backup sessions
- Data replication works effectively with tape backup systems to support your organization's established archiving procedures
Application Failover
The failover capability within LifeKeeper for Exchange monitors Exchange server system resources and services, and initiates a recovery action in the case of a failure.

Disaster Recovery
The
wide-area Disaster Recovery capabilities within LifeKeeper for Exchange provide
a complete and unmatched automated disaster recovery solution. (Figure 4).
Figure 4: Disaster Recovery

-
Provides automated and integrated data replication and failover to a remote
site:
- Reliably monitors critical resources across WAN
- Asynchronously and reliably replicates data over a WAN
-
Comprehensive monitoring minimizes risk of 'false failovers' and ensures
switch to remote site takes place only in disastrous circumstances
-
Choice of full automation or manually-activated "panic button"
-
Access to Exchange Server services is restored in minutes, rather than days
Graphical Interface & Administration
The LifeKeeper for Exchange graphical user interface simplifies configuration
and management of application monitoring, failover and data replication.
